Optimize your health
Colorado Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics is redefining orthopaedics care by uniquely offering COSMO Sports Recovery. Patients and clients now have access to recovery services previously only available to professional athletes.
Why optimize your sports recovery?
COSMO Sports Recovery is a unique wellness concept which offers one-on-one sessions with licensed physical therapists to provide clients injury prevention and sports recovery assistance. Professional and recreational athletes understand the importance of sports recovery in optimizing their performance and health, and to accelerate recovery. Sports recovery services improve your body’s maneuverability, increase circulation, reduce pain and soreness, and enhance your well-being. Such tools have become a staple of the modern professional sports locker room, and COSMO has brought them to their patients.
These sessions are valuable to athletes as well as workers susceptible to repetitive motion injuries. By getting ahead of the injury, one is able to continue doing the activities they love. In addition to hands-on stretching, therapists will employ a range of techniques and tools to address tight or sore muscles and increase range of motion and blood flow.
Compression Therapy
The NormaTec Recovery System maximizes recovery for both athletes and non-athletes alike. Utilizing sequential pulse technology, NormaTec synergistically combines pulsing compression, gradients, and distal release to speed up the body’s recovery process. NormaTec Recovery System improves circulation throughout the body to help you feel well, train harder, and recover more quickly. Rest, relax or enjoy one of the many meditation options on our iPAD.
Soft Tissue Mobilization, Stretch Therapy, Muscle Activation Technique
COSMO Sports Recovery works with hand-selected physical therapists on-site who provide individualized, assisted stretching to help you recover from a vigorous work out, unwind from a busy day or just improve your mobility. Therapists combine stretching, Muscle Activation Technique (MAT) and percussion treatments with the Hypervolt by Hyperice massage tool to best target stiff and sore muscles.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a treatment performed by certified physical therapists to help manage muscular trigger points. A thin filiform needle penetrates the skin and stimulates underlying myofascial trigger points to relieve pain and improve motion. Dry needling is an adjunct treatment to Stretch Therapy to help tackle the trigger points impairing muscle mobility.
Cupping
During a cupping session, the physical therapist places round cups directly on your skin. The cups are then left on your skin for several minutes. It is believed that the suction created by the cup encourages blood flow, and thus, enhanced circulation and soft tissue mobility. Cupping is an adjunct treatment to Stretch Therapy to help tackle the trigger points impairing muscle mobility.
Athletic Taping / Kinesiotaping
Specialized taping techniques are performed for a myriad of reasons, including pain relief, edema/swelling reduction, as well as for proprioceptive feedback.
